  • Ache

Head ache, back ache, heart ache...

They all imply a throbbing pain. What is it called when a word sounds like what it is?

I don't know. I am not a literature person. And I guess, I don't have anything poetical to say...

    Oh well.

    Maybe I'll post something later.

PS I am going in for Obama's Inauguration tomorrow.

    Mountains

This is a song I like... Maybe the reason I like it is because I grew up under the Rockies... or maybe it is deeper (Pun intended).

Mountains On The Ocean Floor :
My uncle’s in the county jail
His time is on his hands
He knows he chose a barren cell
Over a fair and fertile land

    He took another hit
    He hit another high
    He flew until he fell
Just like he has a thousand times

    Nothing ever seems to change
But miles away beneath the waves

    (Chorus)
    There are mountains
    Mountains on the ocean floor
    They’re rising from the deep
    But no one ever sees
    No one ever sees

    I can’t believe I landed there
I swear I swore it off
I know that I can’t stand it here
Still I came and took a fall

I wish that I could shake it
I wish that I was free
I wish that I was half the man
I wish that I could be

    (Chorus)

    Nothing ever seems to change
But miles away beneath the waves
    Down below the dirt
    Hotter than a flame
In the belly of the earth
He has given you a Name

    (Chorus)

    There are mountains
They’re hidden there beneath the waves
    They’re moving up so slow
    No one ever knows
There’s a molten heart of stone
    That is waiting to explode

Only God can see it grow

  • Life with Lorrigs

Well I got here to Colorado Springs and jumped into life here.

I got here and it was 12 degrees but I was shocked because it didn't feel any colder than it does in VA at 30 degrees. Humidity makes a huge difference. Then I went to Church on Sunday morning, and we dedicated the first three children that were adopted out of the foster care system is CO the goal is for New Life church to adopt at least 100 more. Then we heard a sermon on living on less than you make and getting out of debit. I guess I should come up with a clear budget...

After Church I saw the Nutcracker ballet where Diana and SarahRose stole the show (in my opinion). After that cultural experience I went home and slew Orcs with my brothers.

Other strange things one might see in CO include: an organized $5 DVD rack at Walmart that is not only a shelf, but also the DVDs where organized by title. I also saw the "shower that Jesus uses" at Church.

The last thing that I have to say is that the Matovichs wanted me to pass on their greetings and invite to come to Colorado Springs because they want to put you up, and see you. (I got to see them last night).

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a blessed new year!

  • Point of View.

I was reading about David and Jonathan and one thing jumped out at me. Jonathan was willing to defy his family, renounce his place on earth, and risk his life for his friend. What hit me was what that looks like from both prospectives. The more obvious one is from Jonathan's point of view. How powerful it is to love outside yourself and sacrifice for others. That is a heroic image. (I can only pray for God’s strength to be that selfless).

But then you have the other side: David's point of view. He had a friend who did all of that for him! How strange that must have felt, how honoring, how powerful. David’s friend knew the plan God had for David, and accepted it despite how it was at the cost of what was rightfully, lawfully, and by accepted norms (even by good people) his. Imagine being David. No wonder the friendship between them was so great. God gave David someone to give him, and us prospective. That God gives undeserved gifts that we can only be honored by, something that cannot be expected, but when/if it does come it can change everything.

Just looking at the story I can tell there is so much more that can be pulled from it, but most of it goes beyond me.

  • Normal

I never wanted to live the "normal" life. I have always wanted to break the mold be different. I, however, don't like not doing things with people. The problem is that I have to act normal to convince (read con) my friends into doing things with me...

Oh well. I guess I just need to work on my acting skills.

    Does anyone have a mask?

*subtle subtext: I don't like being on the outside looking in.*

  • Xanga

It has been a while since I've really been on here. So here is an update.

Well... I don't have time to update you on everything that has happened since the last update...

So, I will update you on this week. It has started. I went to church. Played 8 or so hours of Civilization II Multi-Player Gold Ed. (took a break and went to C4 as well). Went to bed. Now I am at work again. Not as crazy as it has been. Lots of clean up, and reorganization.

    Hope you are well.

  • This Time.

Sometimes life flies. Sometimes it drags. Often life happens.

    Excerpt from a song:

"I've been sitting watching life pass from the sidelines
Been waiting for a dream to seep in through my blinds
I wondered what might happen if I left this all behind
Would the wind be at my back?"

    -Jonathan Rhys Meyers, This Time

About Me

  • Jeremiah Lorrig: I am a Patrick Henry College graduate. My heart is to stand by the weak. I love people even when it hurts. I don't want people to see me, but maybe they will see the LORD in me. God help me.
